about me

Hello! I’m Cornel and I blog about things that inspire me, things I’ve made and Craft Share, the craft group I started in 2009.

You'll find lots of crochet on my blog, as well as my crochet and sewing projects for Ideas Magazine, since September 2011.

all depends on how you look at things

One person's dropped stitches/loose ends can easily be someone else's haute couture!

mark fast autumn/winter 2010 ready-to-wear

According to his own website, Mark Fast is a 29 year old Canadian born knitwear designer, who grew up outside the city of Winnipeg, in the countryside along a highway next to a forest. He studied in London at Central Saint Martins for five years, completing his BA and went on to complete his MA in February 2008. Mark has just launched a second line of stretchy underwear and body dresses named Faster.

What I found most interesting is that he designs by hand on a domestic knitting machine. His work is formed onto the body as he knits. He has devised innovative stitching techniques, blending lycra with viscose, angora or wool. His fascination with cinema drives his creative process as he channels the energy of the characters who inspire him into his knits. Mark is obsessed with texture and his most recent work explores the relationship of garments to the wearers body.
